The Top 4 Stressors in the Workplace & What to DO

Stress is a workplace problem that isn’t disappearing. Why is that and what’s causing it?

Is it:

  • The inability to find more good workers to help with the workload?
  • Giving more work to high performers than they can manage and not being aware that they’re overwhelmed and overworked?
  • Or is it having the wrong support in place that is generic and ineffective for your team?

I find that it’s all the above. How about you?

All these things create more stress in the workplace. More stress in the workplace creates burnout, stress leave and employee turnover.

According to WebMD: 75% to 90% of all doctor's office visits are for stress-related ailments and complaints.

That’s an insane number of doctor’s office visits for stress and it’s completely preventable. That means that getting control over the stress in the workplace is a #1 priority.

This isn’t work for just the high performers to do single handedly- there is work to be done with the team and leaders as well. It’s a company problem.

How is stress regularly created in your workplace?

These are the things you want to stop doing immediately in the workplace. They create stress which leads to all the issues you want to prevent.

1. Stop Having IMPOSSIBLE Workloads and Deadlines

If you keep assigning deadlines and tasks aren’t getting completed by your high performers – this is your sign that their workload is out of balance – even if they haven’t told you yet. This will create a tremendous amount of stress for them.

And note that if high performers start setting boundaries around what you’re giving them to do – you’re in the danger zone as an employer.

2. Short Staffed

I hear a lot of companies are still short staffed. I know, it takes time to hire key players but what are you doing to your staff in the meantime? How long can they continue to overwork like this? How are you supporting them so they can still be with you when you hire the key players you’re looking for?

And in the meantime, where does that money go that they isn’t being payed to the staff you don’t have? Here’s a big tip for you – give your staff that is picking up the slack: extra PTO time, a raise, a promotion, a team retreat or the support they need in the organization to continue to thrive. There’s a lot of things that can be done, just make sure you’re doing something before you have a bigger problem on your hands – like their resignation letters.

3. Giving More Work to High Performers than Other Workers

Does this happen on your team? An excessive workload is the #1 cause of burnout. Who gets more work? You know this – the high performers of course. Why – because you know they’ll get it done at some point.

But do you know at what cost to them and how this impacts the team? This is a huge stress factor so think before you give your top performers more to do – who else can do this. Only give them what they need to do.

Supported high performers are the most consistent performers and they thrive.

4.  Unresolved Conflict

Ignoring any work conflict leads to worse team performance. As a high performer who has worked for some big name corporations – you want to stay on top of resentment among the team for those that collect their paycheck while doing the bare minimum.

While low performers eventually are terminated, think about the issues they’re causing the team, more importantly your high performers while they are there.

High performers are an asset because they get more done than other workers. But of course this causes bitterness and irritation between the team members that are performing and the ones who aren’t.

Who are the high performance mooches – as I like to call them – in your organization? How is their workload and compensation compared to your high performers? It better not be the same if you want to retain them.

Stress in the workplace doesn’t increase productivity, morale or employee retention.

You don’t want your employees to be stressed, yet most companies have employees feeling the stress for months if not longer.

Stress isn’t simply reduced in the workplace by introducing yoga, meditation or breath work without addressing the problems above. Your employees are going to ROLL their eyes and be more irritated.

They don't have time. This is your biggest problem and their biggest stressor.

To reduce stress in your workplace, you want to decrease the stress you give to your employees and give them customized and personalized tools to decrease the stress they physically take on. I can help you with this.

Stop ignoring the stress in your workplace because it does end up costing you your top performers who are difficult to replace.

Now that you know what the top 4 stressors are in the workplace, I hope you are ready to take action to make them disappear. Feel free to share this article with your team and if you’re ready for support, book a call with me to see how I can help you in “The Successful High Performer Program™.”

How to Stop Burnout at Work for High Performers

How do you keep your high performer from burning out in YOUR work environment?

There are many consultants out there trying to help you have a high performance team. This isn’t what your high performers need. They are naturally going to perform. It’s innately who they are.

What they need to learn is to create balance in their work environment so they can continue to perform consistently. That’s where the leadership comes in.

High performers are invaluable to your company.

You know this and you want to retain them.

  • High performers are good at what they do – they strive for excellence. They often get more tasks delegated to them because they’ll somehow produce and get it done.
  • They even volunteer to do more because it helps them feel more successful. They’re the ones that will pick up the slack of other team members who are not optimally performing (I like to call these workers the mooches of the high performers).
  • And high performers see what needs to get done and they do it.
  • They will try and do it all, it’s what they naturally do.

But eventually they will hit their breaking point.

You may recognize this as someone being forced to take sick leave because of an acute illness, sustaining an injury, personal reasons that impact the quality of their work and ultimately burnout aka stress leave.

Because your high performer will be forced to take time away from work to heal and they are inherently driven, they will hit their breaking point more than once until they realize how to create a sustainable work/life balance.

As a Spiritual Medium and Energy Strategist, I know what is driving your high performer to overwork until they reach burnout. I’ve driven myself to burnout twice in my career, because that’s what high performers do when they’re not in balance.

2 Causes for High Performer Burnout in the Work Environment

No alt text provided for this image

  1. Part of the problem is what I call their Success Wound™, their endless drive to do more, where they prove their worth and more. And this WILL push them to their breaking point.
  2. It’s also the work environment that encourages a high performer to overwork and burnout.

I can talk to high performers all day about what to do to create sustainable work/life balance, but part of what has to change is in the work environment.

How to STOP Burnout in the Work Environment

Step 1 – Recognize your high performers.

Stop letting them overwork and not compensating them more than the other workers for it. This is what leads to them feeling bitter and resentful and moving to another company.

Give them credit for going above and beyond, rewards for taking on extra tasks. You can give them extra vacation time or personal days, a company trip or bonuses for all that they’ve done.

Make them feel seen, heard and appreciated. They need this from the company and their leaders. They’re actively looking for recognition. Give it to them. They are your best performers and you want them to stay and be healthy.

Step 2 – Stop overworking them.

I don’t know a single high performer whose workload is doable. This is why they overwork, to get it done. It can’t be done in their typical work hours, so they have to come in early, work late and work through lunch. Please stop.

You know that their workload is already full. If you give them more to do because you know they’ll do it, this is part of the problem that leads them to burnout. This doesn’t just happen one time. It’s every week, for months with no end in sight.

I’ve had clients tell me,”It’s just until we hire my replacement that I have to do both jobs.” Or, “They can’t find anyone to help me, so I have to get it done.”

My high performing clients are getting more tasks and assignments that aren’t possible to complete in their set work hours. This isn’t the high performers problem that you’re short staffed or the other workers aren’t doing their work. But overworking and taking on all this extra work is how they burnout.

Step 3 – Honor their time AWAY from work.

They need to recharge. They give 200% at work everyday and often still check emails and messages in their off hours – because you give it to them. STOP.

You pay them to work certain hours and they work really hard for you. Encourage them to not check company emails and messages by NOT sending them. Let them rest and recharge in their not scheduled work time so they continue to have the energy and health to be the high performers that they are.

Create the Change for Your High Performers in the Company Culture

No alt text provided for this image

We like to blame the high performer for burning out:

  • They didn’t know when to stop working.
  • They love to overwork.
  • We were surprised to hear their marriage fell apart?
  • We were surprised to hear they were struggling with alcohol.
  • We offer them beverages, snacks and even lunch.

This is bigger than the high performer and their Success Wound.

If you look at the company culture, how do you encourage your high performer to overwork? How many of your high performers are sick, have relationship problems or even worse – don’t have a life outside of work.

The high performers will perform. They are innately driven by their Success Wound.

As a balanced high performer that helps other high performers create a sustainable work/life balance, we have to address the problems in the  work environment that encourage and expect this overworked and over driven behavior to their literal breaking point.

High performers are your most valuable and innovative workers. You want to retain them at your company and you don’t want to pay for sick leave due to burnout.

Reset NOW- Rewrite Your Story

What’s your STORY?

The one you tell yourself on REPEAT that holds you back and keeps you from truly loving your life?

No alt text provided for this image

Perhaps it’s, “I’ll be happy after I crush this next goal.” Or, “My relationships don’t last because they keep ________.” Or, “I want to do fun things but I don’t have the time.”

Your story is an old pattern that you PULL into your life, usually when things are going well. It gives you permission to self-sabotage and pull yourself out of the abundance you are receiving. And it keeps you from loving this amazing life you’ve been so busy creating.

This old story doesn’t have to guide you anymore – unless you like being stuck and frustrated that nothing is changing – you have the power to create a new story.

How to Rewrite Your Story

You can’t create a new result with the old story. You have to let the old story go and write a new one and when something comes up where you’d tell yourself the old story, you have to tell yourself your new story instead.

  • What is your story?
  • What happens when you tell yourself this story?
  • What would you like to happen instead?

When things are going well and you start to fall into old patterns and start to self-sabotage:

  1. STOP immediately. Catch yourself in the pattern and release it by saying, “I’m not doing this anymore.” Let the past go. You can take what you learned from the experience WITHOUT carrying the energy of the experience.
  2. Focus on what is working well and be truly grateful for the amazing experiences that are happening in your life right now – like the thing you were just trying to self-sabotage. Being grateful brings you into the present moment and this is where your power is. Right here, right now!
  3. Shift the energy that is creating your experiences. Create an energy practice to help you reduce your stress and have more balance. Energy affects everything. The better place you are in energetically, the less likely this old story will appear.
  4. Rewrite your NEW story. When that old story appears, this is what you do:

Appreciate your experience, everything happens for a reason:

When __________happened, it was a journey for me to ____________. I am grateful for this experience. I let it go and I am free. Now I will only tell my NEW version of the story.

My NEW story is:

Because of ____________ (my experience) it allowed me to ___________ (grow, stand in my power, express myself, etc.). I am stronger because of this experience and now I can _______ (what good came to you because of your experience).

I am____________.

Going forward, focus on the positive from the experience. What you learned, what skills you now take with you, and how you are a better person because of this. If any negativity comes up, you have more clearing and letting go to do until you can tell the story without falling back onto the pain, hurt, etc.

Lisa's live event in March 2021. Clients wrote what they're grateful for from their experiences.

What new story will you write today?

Just because you’ve been following an old story doesn’t mean it is the right story for you anymore. You can shift and create a new story for any scenario in your life at any time. All you have to do is be ready!

Healing Generational Patterns with a Spiritual Medium

Generational patterns run DEEP in your family just like disease processes do. What runs in your family is passed down to you but you have the power to change these patterns.

You live by these patterns often without realizing or questioning them. They are engrained into your energy.

No alt text provided for this image

As a Spiritual Medium, I work with Generational Patterns often and they guide all areas of your life.

Generational Patterns shape and define your:

  • Relationships
  • Abundance
  • Time
  • Energy
  • Mindset

You will find yourself doing the things your parents did, your grandparents and so on until you start to recognize the pattern, stop it and create a new one. Just because they’ve been handed down to you, doesn’t mean they have to continue to have power over you.

What Are Generational Patterns?

Generational Patterns are most often energy patterns that are passed down to you through your biological family and they are strong patterns.

You can also pick up on Generational Patterns from those you are around a lot as a child like your care givers, role models, adopted parents, etc.

No alt text provided for this image

Generational Patterns are stored energetically in a specific area of your body. It imprints into your energy and continues through the generations until you stop it and heal it in your body.

They show up in how you take risks or don’t, how you take care of your body or don’t, your abundance beliefs, your intimate partner experiences, how you spend your time, etc. Look at how you spend money, who else in your family spends it the same way? It’s a Generational Pattern.

Healing it in your body doesn’t heal it in your ancestors. They have to do the work to break these patterns in their life. But when you shift it in your life, it will affect your future generations because you changed the pattern.

Discovering Your Generational Patterns

These patterns are not only in your energy but they are taught to you at a young age often by the people who passed the energy on.

Let’s go back to your childhood. What is your EARLIEST memory about:

  • How relationships are? How to be treated in a relationship?
  • MONEY. What is your earliest belief about money? Your earliest belief spending money?
  • How to spend time? Constantly on the go? Put things off to the last minute?
  • What were you taught about energy? How to spend your energy?

Now look at how these patterns are STILL showing up in your life today! Are they working? Usually they aren’t because they aren’t yours.

Breaking Free from Your Generational Patterns

You have the power to live, create and shift your life in every moment. That includes changing the Generational Patterns in your life.

Are you ready to BREAK free from your Generational Patterns that are no longer serving you?

  1. Get objective – notice they are there and how they are guiding your life and other family members.
  2. Shift in your pivotal moment – recognize you are following the Generational Pattern. Stop going into the actions and energy of the pattern and shift in that moment.
  3. Do what you would like to do instead of what you were just routinely going to do.
  4. Create a daily energy work practice to help you clear your energy.

Just because something has been a pattern for decades for you and longer for your family, doesn’t mean you have to keep doing it when it no longer supports you. You have the power to create a life you love in every moment.

How to EXPAND Your TIME

I don’t have TIME.

What you’re really saying:

  • I don’t have boundaries.
  • I don’t prioritize.
  • I can’t say no.
  • What I want to do isn’t important.
  • I don’t make time for me.
  • I’m busy proving that I am worthy, enough and love.

So the next time you want to say, “I don’t have time.” I want you to look at this list and pay attention to what you’re really saying.

Because you DO have time.

86,400 seconds EVERY day. The question is are you spending them in ways that bring you JOY?

Time is a commodity and you want to consciously spend it.

Here are 4 simple practices that will help you EXPAND time so you can start enjoying this amazing life you’ve been creating.

1. Implement More Self-Care

When you’re on an airplane they tell you to put the oxygen mask on yourself first, then you can help others. This is so true for all areas in your life!

If you are tired, overwhelmed and exhausted you do not have the energy for everything else you want to do in work and in life. And time flies by! Did you ever notice that?

Make time for self-care so you can be more present and in the moment.

Self-care can include exercising, getting enough sleep at night, having a date night, reading a book for pleasure – not learning, eating foods that support your body, a massage, facial, meditation, an energy work practice and so much more.

What self-care would best support you right now? Make sure you get it scheduled on your weekends and into packed work days to help you expand your time.

2. Create Routines

Routines tell you what to do at certain times of the day. They help you expand time because you don’t waste time thinking about what you need to do and when. You just do them and get them done.

Create routines that will best support you with your goals:

  • Want to stay more balanced? Create a morning routine to help you start your day in balance. Added bonus – you’ll feel better and you won’t feel so rushed.
  • Trying to fall asleep at night? It is such a waste of time! If you want to fall asleep easily and without medication create an evening routine to help you drift into dreamland quickly. There’s a reason you had a bedtime routine as a child! Sleep is key to making sure that you are present and energized throughout the day. If you’re tired, you waste that time not being as focused or productive.
  • The same is true for eating healthy, exercising, doing hobbies you love. Create a routine that will give you more time in the areas you are working on.

What routines would help support you and give you more time?

3. Balance Your Schedule

I know you love your work and that you are driven BUT your goal wasn’t to work all the time. Your goal was to have a freedom lifestyle – one where you actually get to enjoy all these things you’ve worked so hard for!

Your vision wasn’t to live for your weekends and vacations. When you do that, you’re too tired to enjoy them and they go by way too fast! Plus you usually end up plugging into work anyhow.

Instead create a work schedule and STICK to it!

Look at your calendar at the beginning of the month and each week and look at how it is balanced or not. Each morning look at your schedule and hold firm to your start and stop times for work. Don’t overbook, instead leave intentional spaces for those last minute priorities.

By creating a balanced schedule, you won’t feel rushed and you’ll be able to get in all the things you want to do. You’ll expand your time for things you want and love to do!

4. Say “NO” More Often

When you say no to something, you are saying yes to something for you.

How? Because you spend a lot of your day saying yes to things that take away time for you to do the things you wanted to do for yourself. It’s the only thing you can take away from to squeeze this “thing” in.

By saying NO, you say yes to that walk, a book, a reasonable bedtime. See where I’m going with this?

What can you say no to and reclaim more time in your day?

Not having time is a choice.

You have so much power over how you spend your time. What will you start doing differently? How will you start to reclaim your most precious commodity – time?

Why You Should Say NO More Often

I bet you say “yes” to things because you think you should.

Perhaps to even make someone else happy (which you don’t have the power to do – so stop doing that!)

You say “yes” for the other person while you inwardly cringe and cross off your list something you really did want to do but now you can’t.

What would change if you said NO instead?

  • Would you have more time?
  • Do more things you actually want to do?
  • Feel better about your schedule?
  • Get some much needed self-care in?

Think about it this way – when you say “no” to something, you are saying “yes” to something for you.

After all, there is only so much time in a day.

I Don’t Have Enough TIME

This is the biggest complaint I hear: “I don’t have enough time.”

Time is a commodity. It is more precious than money because you can’t get more of it.

You spend a lot of your day saying “yes” to things that take you away from the things you actually wanted to do.

When you say “yes” to your already busy schedule, you either have to take out something you really wanted to do or you lose time for yourself at the end of the day.

Right?

But by saying ‘no”, you say yes to that walk, a book, a reasonable bedtime, time to “be” or whatever it is that you want to do for yourself.

See where I’m going with this?

Start Saying “NO”

When someone invites you to do something you DON’T want to do, the best thing you can do is say “no.”

Notice there is no excuse here. You’re not ignoring them or leaving them in limbo. Just say, “No.” Or “No thank you.”

Period.

Here’s the thing, no one wants you at something you don’t want to be at. You mess with the vibe of the event. And when you don’t want to be there, everyone knows you don’t want to be there. So save all this trouble and start saying “no.”

It feels awkward at first but I promise it gets easier once you realize what you can do instead during that time!

Most of the time, they don’t care that you said no. (Now if they pressure you once you say you don’t want to go, then you should really look at why they’re trying to pressure you and decide to go from there. Maybe even read this article on boundaries.)

The bonus in saying “no” is that you have more time and energy to actually do things you want to do. Maybe you get to sleep at a decent hour. Or you get to read a book you’ve been wanting to start.

Pause Before You Say “Yes”

Before you say “yes”, ask yourself do I:

  • Want to do this?
  • Have time to do this?
  • Have the energy to do this?
  • Have to give up something else I want to do in order to do this?

Don’t respond until you’ve decided if you really want to do it or not – but don’t forget to respond. (Not responding puts a strain on your energy.)

No alt text provided for this image

Remember, you get to decide how to spend your time.

Spend your time wisely. Say “no” more often so you can say “yes” to the things you really want to do.

Why the Hustle is a SHORT Term Solution

If the hustle is only sustainable short term energetically, emotionally and physically, why do we do it for years? Decades even?

Because it’s encouraged in our society. You are told from a very early age:

  • You want to be successful, you need to hustle.
  • You want to make a big impact or income, you have to hustle.
  • If you want to do anything in this life, you better hustle.

Understanding the Hustle

Let’s start with the definition of HUSTLE:

Verb: obtain by forceful action or persuasion.

Noun: busy movement and activity.

Physically, emotionally and energetically neither definition is SUSTAINABLE.

No alt text provided for this image

Yet the hustle is glorified and ingrained in our society for centuries, especially if you’re career driven:

  • “Without hustle, talent will only carry you so far.” – Gary Vaynerchuk
  • “I’d rather hustle 24/7 than slave 9 to 5.” – Unknown
  • “Work like there is someone working 24 hours a day to take it away from you” – Mark Cuban
  • “Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.” – Abraham Lincoln

This has created a REAL problem that no one thinks they can change. After all, success is defined by who is hustling the most.

The hustle has become a work lifestyle and it is such a myth because the hustle is not sustainable by anyone. Anyone…

When is the Hustle No Longer Supporting Me?

The hustle can work, but only SHORT TERM. You will know when the hustle is starting to hurt you.

You’ll notice:

No alt text provided for this image
  • Your relationships are struggling or non-existent
  • You are sick often or keep injuring yourself
  • Putting on weight and unhappy with your body image
  • You’re exhausted and sleep is difficult
  • Life and time is literally flying by you
  • You’re not fulfilled, enjoying life, or able to relax at the end of the day.

You get to decide what success means to you. Hustling does not guarantee success. You can hustle without success. You can have success without hustling.

What is your definition of success?

  • Is it by how much you hustle and how exhausted you are? (If so, you may want to stop reading here!)
  • Is it by how much you enjoy this amazing life you’ve created?
  • Do you define success by achieving milestones you’ve set?
  • Are you living YOUR definition of success?

Most successful entrepreneurs are not. They find that they got stuck in the pattern to hustle and keep scaling and they just keep doing what they know. But there is another way!

You Can Have Success without the Hustle

Oprah is the DEFINITION of the American dream and I challenge you to find a quote where she says the hustle is the answer to success. Seriously, I would love to see it.

“It makes no difference how many peaks you reach if there was no pleasure in the climb.” ― Oprah Winfrey

No alt text provided for this image

“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” ― Oprah Winfrey

“I’ve come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that’s as unique as a fingerprint – and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard, and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you. ”― Oprah Winfrey

If Oprah is the definition of success and #10 in America’s richest SELF made women, she has a show on OWN called “Live By the Hustle, Die by the Hustle”, and she talks more about the journey and your intuition that the hustle….the HUSTLE is not the only way to achieve massive success!

No alt text provided for this image

You can scale, enjoy your life and stop living by the hustle! The hustle is proven to be your path to exhaustion, overwhelm and burn out.

You have the power to reclaim your life and live a life you love.

As a successful entrepreneur that has been in business since 2002, I absolutely get it. I know how this started for you. When you first start your business there is so much to do AND you have to do it all, unless you have investors and you can hire a team, but even then it’s very easy to step into these beliefs (myths):

  • I have to do everything!
  • My work is my priority.

Eventually: the goals aren’t enough, your relationships take the toll, your health isn’t great and OVERWHELM, EXHAUSTION and BURNOUT become your way of living. It doesn’t sound very “successful” or like the life you envisioned you would create, does it??

Shifting from Hustle to Balance

There isn’t one area for you to focus on to create a shift from a hustling lifestyle back into what you originally wanted, a freedom lifestyle.

No alt text provided for this image

What I have found to stop the hustle and truly get back to being successful in ALL areas of your life, there are 4 areas for you to focus on, 4 patterns for YOU to shift.

  • Time – you just don’t have enough of it
  • Relationships – aren’t fulfilling or are non-existent
  • Inner game & Abundance – it doesn’t matter how successful you are or how many goals you hit, you HAVE to do more
  • Energy – you don’t have any to do anything outside of work

Everyone wants a quick fix, but your thoughts, beliefs, fears, family patterns and past life experiences have gotten you to where you are today. AND it took time to get here.

No alt text provided for this image

Instead of thinking, breathing and living work, start thinking about what will bring me joy:

  • What can I do today?
  • How can I have fun this month?
  • What days can I block out for self-care?
  • Who do I want to schedule in to spend time with?

The hustle is no longer working. You know. You’ve been doing it and it’s not right anymore.

I live, breathe and teach another way to reach your goals without the constant hustle and it works for me, my family and my clients.

You can scale your income without the hustle. Interested?! I invite you to connect with me and find your path to success in all areas of your life, not just work.

The hustle is not your friend. Balance is.

3 Self-Sabotaging Patterns that Cripple Your Revenue & Relationships

Entrepreneurs are special people. They are driven, innovative and adaptive.

The problem is that most entrepreneurs find they aren’t really enjoying the amazing life they’re creating because work goes from being a passion to being everything without even realizing it.

They also get stuck in the mindset they had when they started their business and don’t acknowledge how far they’ve come.

What got you to 6 figures energetically will not get you to 7+ figures.

There are 3 Self-Sabotaging Patterns at the heart of your Success Wound™ that I see driving every successful entrepreneur that cripple your revenue and relationships. Get objective and look at what is driving you. Are you proving:

No alt text provided for this image

1. I Am Worthy

Do you find yourself trying to prove that you are worthy in your work and relationships:

  • Trying to please other people
  • You feel better spending money on other people than yourself
  • Put others needs above your own
  • Do lots of work for free or low balling it, trying to prove your worth and not feeling like you’re succeeding

2. I Am Enough

Do you find yourself trying to prove that you are enough in your work and relationships:

  • Buying yourself stuff isn’t the problem, you struggle with enjoying it – buyers remorse
  • You can put your needs first but find you can’t meet them
  • Doesn’t matter what goals you crush, the moment you meet it, you’re onto the next one. It’s like you’re on a never-ending hamster wheel and its exhausting…you don’t ever feel like you’re enough or you’re doing enough

3. I Am Love

Do you find yourself trying to prove that you are love in your work and relationships:

  • In relationships, you don’t feel loved or appreciated and you’re constantly seeking it
  • You feel bad when others buy you stuff. You may even find you can be an emotional shopper.
  • By putting others needs above your own you feel resentful and empty and have no energy left. Seeking love makes you feel needy and desperate in work and relationships

Reclaim Your Power

While these beliefs can drive you to increase your income at first as you are proving yourself, they become what limits your income and relationships because they aren’t creating the happiness you are seeking ANYWHERE.

You reach a point where you become a slave to the drive that is pushing you to be worthy, enough and/or love.

Your work becomes a place where you can prove “I am worthy. I am enough. I am love.” but you don’t feel better or heal this without doing the work within because even when you HAVE the money, impact and success you don’t feel like you have it!

You have to get to the root of what is driving you (your Success Wound™), nothing external will fix this long term:

  • Energy cannot be manipulated.
  • What you think and believe, you become.
  • I am worthy. I am enough. I am love. These are your Universal Truths. Anything telling you otherwise, has to go. It’s time to energetically heal it and allow it to be your truth. You don’t have to prove you are these things because you ARE.
  • Abundance is a focus on plenty and enough for everyone, not LACK.

If you are successful, you are successful.

BUT if you think you are successful and a minute later think you don’t have any money coming in and I’m going to lose everything or not be able to retire – that’s the energy you are creating. You cripple your revenue with energy stagnation. Stop putting the brakes on your abundance, this is messing with your money, time, relationships and energy.

How to Stop Self-Sabotaging Your Success

You can continue to scale your business without being driven to exhaustion anymore.

  • This constant drive to achieve more, do more, prove more is what I call your Success Wound™ and you can learn how to heal it here.
  • You are worthy. You are enough. You are love. Create an energy practice that you do everyday! This will help you connect with these crucial “I am” statements and create a shift in your income and relationships.
  • Reclaim your abundance mindset. You are an abundant being living in an abundant Universe. Stop believing anything less.

You have the power to make as much or as little money, impact and success as you would like. You can enjoy it or you can continue to operate from a place of lack.

Lack is a choice you no longer have to choose. Choose to live and focus on what you have and what you are, these are truths and they will change your revenue and relationships for the better: I am worthy. I am enough. I am love.

How to Create Your Meditation Practice

Meditation and energy work are so popular right now because the constant drive and go-go-go mentality leads to stress that is harming your body.

No alt text provided for this image

You can check out what Harvard Health has to say about it here – meditation is an answer.

The problem is that the majority of people can’t meditate on their own, even with all the apps out there, they feel like failures and give up.

Don’t give up! There is a way to meditate and reduce your stress.

I help people who say they can’t meditate weekly at Four Seasons Aviara and I do it daily in my private coaching calls.

It is possible to meditate and feel AMAZING. It is time to take care of you!

Why Meditation Has Become Popular Again

No alt text provided for this image

You are told to meditate when:

  • You are exhausted, overwhelmed and trying to be everything to everyone.
  • You worry all the time.
  • You have the career and money but you aren’t ENJOYING your life. In fact, you are still focused on making more and doing more and you’d like to be more present. Heck – you’re probably being told to be more present.
  • You’re not sleeping at night on your own without assistance. You are wired and can’t fall asleep!
  • Your doctor wants you to get your stress level down and it helps with many disease processes (I hear this from my new meditation participants weekly at Four Seasons Aviara.)

You can absolutely go to meditation to help you calm and center, but there’s a reason why you’re struggling to meditate on your own – even with all the apps and different modalitites out there.

Why is Meditation so Hard?

Meditation will help you be present, if you have the tools to actually do it on your own.

These are the two struggles I find people have:

  1. You don’t or can’t stop, pause and breathe, or take a moment to “be” so trying to do it on your own without support is like going to the gym without a trainer – very few are that disciplined to meditate on their own.
  2. When you actually stop and pause – all the thoughts and messages your body tries to give you that are ignored all the time rush in during your meditation. Then you feel like a failure because you’re overwhelmed with messages and distractions, not a peaceful experience.

  • Notice what is driving that pain in your neck or back.
  • Why did you just explode at that person?
  • What is driving your success?

You need more than meditation.

You need an energy work practice.

Start an Energy Work Practice

I have been leading guided, energy healing meditations in my business since 2002 and in high end spas since 2015.

Combining energy work with meditation is very powerful right now because you have to do MORE than a basic MEDITATION, especially when you first start out or it won’t work for you.

You have to train your mind and body and listen to your spirit. When did you last do that?

No alt text provided for this image

Think about it:

  • You are overwhelmed, stressed and at your breaking point.
  • You don’t have the energy or the knowledge of how to sit and be.
  • You’re easily distracted by noises, thoughts, body aches, and things to do. Fears are running rampant.

But you’re going to overcome all that at will, sit down for let’s just say 5 minutes and meditate.

It won’t happen and that’s how you fail.

Daily energy work is what’s really missing and it’s simple and easy to do.

Listen to the messages your mind, body and soul are telling you. They are intentional. They will help guide you on your perfect path. Stop ignoring them.

If you make time to listen throughout the day to the messages you are receiving, they will stop interrupting you during your meditation practice and those intuitive visions will come when you are awake, and stop waking you when you are sleeping. Brilliant, right!

How to Combine Energy Work with Your Meditation

Everyone has time for meditation.

The more you meditate, the better you will feel physically and mentally.

Start with setting a timer for at least five minutes once a day and then move to twice a day.

Sit comfortably, so you can focus on your meditation, not the discomforts of your body.

Start by bringing the White Light through your body. Imagine it entering your crown (top of your head), going down your face, your neck, to your chest and back, to your stomach, to your hips, to your thighs, to your knees, down your legs, into your feet, and into the Earth.

Take three deeps breaths. When you breathe in, breathe in the White Light or a soft pastel color. When you exhale, release any tension in your body.

At this point, let your mind go blank.

Use an “I am” statement as a start to your meditation. This can be your focus for your meditation. Then imagine pastel colors, a serene place in nature, a bird, or whatever pops into your mind that relaxes you.

Go with the flow of what you are seeing and experiencing. If you start trying to think about what you are experiencing, move past the words. Do not give them power by thinking about quieting them. Just imagine you are floating away from them or focus on what you are seeing. If you feel pain in your body, you have letting go to do there.

The mind does not understand meditating. It does understand categorizing things and it tries to analyze what you are doing: “why am I here, why am I seeing this image, what should I do with this image?” Then the meditation is long gone and you are in your mind again. Do not allow your mind to have power in your meditation, just move away from its thoughts and return to your “I am” statement and pastel color.

When you are done, take a few deep breaths.

“I am love. I am safe. I am whole. I am ___________.” All is well.

Open your eyes when you are ready.

By combining energy work into your meditation practice, you will instantly feel better – at peace and ease.

Meditation is calming and centering. It will help you reduce your stress.

The best way to start your meditation practice is to add energy work into it.

4 Quick and Powerful Shifts from Overwhelm into Balance

As a successful entrepreneur and a Spiritual Medium, Healer & Coach, I hear these things all the time:

  • My to-do list is never ending.
  • There is so much on my plate, I don’t even know where to begin.
  • My business is so busy, I don’t have time for anything for me – like lunch, a date or a full night’s sleep.
  • How can I stay focused, confident and on top of everything in my relationships and in my business?
No alt text provided for this image

You want to be everything to everyone but you have so much on your plate.

I get it!

While you can manage being out of balance for a little bit of time, it’s not sustainable and it doesn’t work long term for you or those around you.

Add any change into your life right now whether you are choosing it or you feel it’s happening to you and it’s just too much! It tips the scales because you are already maxed out!

Balance is the key to SUCCESS in all areas of your life.

So how you can move from overwhelm and burnt out into BALANCE in the relationships most important to you?

It all starts with you.

Pick the area to reclaim that will help you the most and begin there. It’s time to get back on track in all areas! Reclaim your time, relationships, inner game and energy.

1.    Reclaim your Abundance

What you create in your mind, you create around you. Balance begins by creating thoughts that are going to help you get where you would like to go.

Every thought you think and every word you use is creating your reality in this moment.

This moment shapes the next and things are put into motion and become reality without you even realizing it:

Pay attention to family patterns, thoughts and beliefs that are shaping your experiences and notice if they are still supporting you or if it is time for new ones.

How are fears and doubts limiting or preventing you from creating happy, fulfilling relationships?

How to Reclaim Your Abundance

Be Grateful

Being grateful is the most powerful thing you can do to overcome your fears and doubts. It immediately puts you into the present moment and attracts more of these things into your life.

First pause.

Imagine stopping or freezing the thought and let it go.

Then be grateful for something you are truly grateful for in this moment (not what you think you SHOULD be grateful for) and you’ve reclaimed your power in that moment.

I am grateful for ____________.

Use “I am” Statements

“I am” is the most powerful thing you can say. Whatever comes after is what you create.

Think about it:

  • “I am hungry.” This makes you hungrier.
  • “I am lonely.” You’ll notice you keep feeling lonelier.

Try these instead:

  • “I am peace.”
  • “I am calm.”
  • “I am free.”
  • “I am love.”
  • “I am light.”
  • “I am abundant.”

These are inner game changers for you!

Write the one that best supports you on a post-it note and put somewhere you can see throughout the day to help you reclaim your abundance and what you’re creating in your life. Keep them at 3 words! I am __________.

Remember, what you focus on is what you create. For tips to reclaim your inner game on your finances and abundance, read this – The Drive for More Money.

2.      Reclaim your Relationships

The relationship you have with yourself is the most important relationship.

How you treat yourself is how others will treat you. They follow your lead, you set the stage:

  • If you think you deserve a certain type of relationship or people around you that is the tribe you will attract.
  • If you believe you aren’t lovable, the people in your relationships will believe that too.
  • If you feel alone, guess what? No one can take that away from you but YOU. You’ll find yourself surrounded by people that are there but aren’t your people and you will feel alone.

Self-love and self-worth come from within. They determine how much power you feel you have. Power is an energy exchange and ideally, it is EQUAL in all your relationships.

When you find fulfillment in yourself, you are able to create relationships at work and home that are fulfilling, balanced and have boundaries.

How to Reclaim Your Relationships

Claim your truth:

Begin by knowing in your whole being, “I am love. I am light. I am safe. I am whole.”

Let go of any resistance to these statements in your body because these are your energetic truths.

Feel these “I am” statements through your body from the top of your head, through your body, down to your feet and into the Earth.

Boundaries:

We think that people should know what we want without us telling them. The problem is they are not a mind reader. We have to communicate and one way we do that is with boundaries.

Create boundaries to let people at work and at home know what is okay and what is not. Make sure you are firm on the boundaries or people will ignore them.

An important boundary to create is around work and your personal time. Don’t work in your personal time and at work, don’t work on your personal life. Create clear times to help you be present in both areas.

Respect the boundaries that others set with you as well. Remember to treat others as you would like to be treated. For more support in this area, read Stop Searching and Find Fulfillment in Your Relationships.

3.      Reclaim your Time

This is the number one thing I hear from successful entrepreneurs that directly affects all the other areas: “I don’t have any time.”

Yes, you are busy and your work is your passion. But somewhere along the line, work became your life.

Now you are feeling overwhelmed and unfulfilled. Money is nice but something is missing – enjoying all the fruits of your labor, living a fulfilling life and playing.

How to Reclaim Your Time

Create a Work Schedule

Create work hours and stick to them.

Do not (no matter how tempted you are!) work in your personal time. A life outside of work is very important for you and your relationships.

Do not check email and social media outside of your designated work times. You can set times throughout the day and stick to those times.

Prioritize

Complete the most important tasks first and the rest will be completed as it can be.

You can intuitively tune in to see what is the most important thing each day. Each day, priorities change based upon your work’s demands and flow with that.

Be Realistic with Your Schedule

This can be a tough one for most entrepreneurs. Often you are overly ambitious with how much you can squeeze into each day.

Schedule less into each day than you think you should. This will save time for any last minute emergencies or priorities.

Only say “YES” to things you actually would like to do. Feel free to say “NO” (no explanation needed) for events and activities that you dread doing or that do not make sense for you to do.

Schedule in Time to “BE”

Schedule in time for self care. Self care is often hair, nails and massages – sometimes a facial. It’s not enough because it’s doing and not being.

You have to schedule in days that are blank!

This will allow you to rest, take time to “be“, time to flow with the day and have a break from always being scheduled and it gives you space to be present.

Stop watching time go by and start enjoying time in the present moment. You can also meditate, do daily energy work, get outside and enjoy nature or spend time with those you love.

4.      Reclaim your Energy

By taking time each day to get back in balance you will have more energy and a renewed purpose. You are not meant to go-go-go all the time as this leads to burn out and overwhelm.

Listen to what will best support your body and do it. The more balanced you are, the easier it is to take on any obstacles or struggles that come your way.

Your body is your compass. It will guide you, you just have to listen.

It will tell you if you need to eat, go to the bathroom, go for a walk, exercise, etc.

How to Reclaim Your Energy

Listen

Listen to what your body is asking you to do. It can be as simple as sitting down and taking a few minutes to be or just pausing and taking a deep breath.

Your body will tell you if it’s time to do some exercise, eat, sleep, etc. All you have to do is listen.

Sleep

Make sure you are getting enough rest. This is important for you and those around you. 7 simple steps to help you sleep is right here.

The less sleep you get, the more likely you are to be short, crabby or annoyed. You also won’t have energy to make the best decisions.

Sleep at night is just as important as taking a nap. Listen to your body as exhaustion leads to illness and you do not have time for that!

Eat

Don’t skip meals! This leads to you grabbing easy to eat junk and often adds to weight concerns.

Eat food that nurtures your body. Prep meals or healthy snacks in advance to prevent eating junk food.

Eating also gives you time to take a break and energize, reassess and fuel up for what is next.

By reclaiming your time, you will feel present and regain your power. You didn’t go into business for yourself to be a slave to your job. What can you start doing to reclaim your time each day?

Do Energy Work Daily

A daily energy work practice is VITAL to helping you stay in balance energetically. Here is a simple yet powerful practice I teach my clients. This video series will show you how to balance your energy with White Light, how to let go of any stress and negativity you are holding onto and how to refill those areas with positive energy.

You and those around you will notice a huge shift in you when you do your daily energy work.

The energy you give off is what is attracted back to you. By reclaiming your energy and power in these four areas, you will create a shift within you that will help you create balance. What is happening within you, is reflected around you.

Success is possible in all areas of your life. Start with one shift and start reclaiming your time, relationships, abundance and energy. It starts with YOU.
